Providing Medical Care in DR Congo
Providing Medical Care in DR Congo
SERVE GLOBALLY GENERAL | PROJECT GOAL: $50,000
In the remote village of Bogbakusa, Sawi Saboko, a 30-year-old mother of four, faced a life-threatening crisis. While working in her field, she fell into a hole and fractured her leg. With no money for hospital care, she relied on traditional treatment, but infection set in and gangrene spread. Desperate to save her life, her family placed her on a motorbike and traveled 35 kilometers to Karawa Hospital. Doctors determined that an emergency amputation was the only way to prevent the infection from claiming her life.
Through Serve Globally's Paul Carlson Partnership (PCP), Karawa Hospital provided care despite Sawi's inability to pay. PCP works alongside the Covenant Church of Congo, whose healthcare system reaches 3.3 million people through five hospitals, nearly 100 clinics, two nursing schools, and malnutrition programs. This network is a lifeline for families like Sawi's, whose lives were saved. Today Sawi gives thanks to God and those whose compassion made her recovery possible: "May God bless our partner for the help I received. Because of this care, I am alive."
Your gift makes stories like Sawi's possible. Through FOWM 2026, we have an incredible opportunity to strengthen the work of our partners in the DR Congo as they serve communities experiencing deep poverty. Your gift will address urgent needs and sustain programs that transform lives— medical care, infrastructure, clean water, and economic growth.
Will you join us in this transformative ministry? Together, we can bring healing and hope to those who need it most.
