People in DR Congo know that investing in repairing bridges and roads can make a significant economic impact for their communities, as well as provide access to schools, hospitals, and water sources.
When bridges are in poor condition, they threaten physical safety and economic security. Accidents cause the loss of thousands of dollars worth of goods, and even loss of life. Farmers can’t get their goods to market, walking over a log bridge to a hospital or clinic is dangerous, carrying food, water, and heavy materials is risky, and children can’t easily get to school.
Through our partners, many bridges have been repaired in the area. But there are many more problematic and dangerous bridges that desperately need replacing or repairing.
