Ministry Overview: I often think about ministry as giving aid or service, but I’m learning not to overlook the value of others ministering to me or our team. Prison Fellowship, with all of its vectors of service, is the main area I pour into and through which I am poured into. Our local team has a common goal of serving prisoners, prison guards, victims of crime, released prisoners, and their families. My roles often depend on the need of a given program or ministry context. At our club for released prisoners, I play worship songs, chat with clients about life or problems they need help solving, and sometimes I pick up the food from the food bank. At Dream Academy (a mentoring program for daughters of prisoners), a stable presence and male element was needed, so I joined the leadership team there. I get to do many other things like studying the Bible with my friends and doing prison visits, but I’ll tell you more about that in my newsletters. Just like in any other role I’ve done here over the past nine years, I both receive and give service best when it’s done humbly before God with my heart attuned to his Spirit.
